The 2010 Alpha Security Golf Challenge is to be played over 12 calendar months. This year's challenge will be different to the previous one's because it involves three golf clubs instead of two. We have included Avion Park Golf Club simply because it geographically falls in the centre of our operational area and quite a number of our supporters are members of the club.
The purpose of the challenge is two fold.
It is charity driven in aid of Alpha House, a trauma debriefing and counseling centre.
To create an awareness that Alpha Security has been around for more that 21years and is in fact a one stop security service provider that can cater for all your security needs.
When Alpha initially launched the challenge in 1996, all proceeds on the day went to the Elim Clinic in Kempton Park which is a rehabilitation centre for victims of all kinds of substance abuse. But presently the support is for Alpha House. Alpha House is a trauma debriefing and counseling centre manned by a multidiscipline team of professionals on a voluntary basis. It is managed by Dr Bernie Dalgety. Dr. Dalgety and her team provide counseling for victims that suffers from any kind of trauma, be it domestic violence, sexual abuse, hiv an aids, hi-jacking, death bereavement amongst others.
We would like to convey our sincere gratitude for the support Alpha House has been enjoying since we initially introduced the golf challenge to Lake Benoni almost 8 years ago in 2002.
The South African Golf Association (SAGA) recommend that handicaps be calculated no more than twice a month.
The South African Ladies Golf Union (SALGU) have stipulated that handicaps must be calculated twice a month and be posted on the 1st and 15th of every month.
